KONTRAST 7 EDITORIAL BULKY ILLUSTRATIONS
"Kontrast 7" is a zine dedicated to one of the districts in Prague - Holešovice (Prague 7). "Kontrast 7" turned out to be the contrast of visual solutions, content, opinions, languages, and personalities. Just like Holešovice.
Holešovice is a former industrial district that now turned out to be one of the artsiest and modern parts of Prague. Our goal was to emphasize this rapid change by showing the contrast between old and new Holešovice: old historical buildings being turned into clubs and markets, classy authentic cafes being pushed aside by hipster coffee shops and bistros, two contemporary art galleries in functionalism style lurking among romanticism like buildings etc.
My illustrations were used to accompany the selected articles. They included the interviews with people and served as a visualisation of the story which was being told.

art district article illustrations
These illustrations accompany the article about art in streets. The main idea was to make streets look like gallery and museum spaces. I co-operated with another illustrator, creating contrast of bulky and perfect lines.
magazine spreads
Each section of the magazine has one accent color. The one I was involved in creating the most is the art and architecture section, featured in yellow. Articles are divided by photography pages, area feature pages and poems.
interview features
I was in charge of making illustrations for interviews and some of the articles. These illustrations served as a replacement for photos for people who did not want to have their pictures taken.
bilingual roll outs
Featured interviews are printed on a different format than the rest of the magazine. They are folded and double sided. One side is in Czech language - the native language of the interviewees, the other side is in English as the rest of the zine.
