NATURE WITHIN ILLUSTRATED SILENT BOOK
This project was made for a college assignment, whose goal was a creation of a "silent book," or a book with no words.
The main theme of the book is "I must remember nature." I focused in more detail on the nature themes and ever-present problem of humanity polluting our precious planet.
To make the book feel more special for the reader, I included few elements into. The book is filled with little details, "tiny secrets," that the reader can explore.
I want the reader to be encouraged to open the book more than once and just fully explore the hidden things, like cut out windows, detailed drawing “easter eggs” references.

character design sketches
The character was designed to stand out of the crowd and be the first spark in the community. The whole scenery changes throughout the book; slowly comes from dirty industrial world full of anxiety to blooming green happy society that found the long lost treasure.

When designing the illustrated pages, I made sure the compositions would make sense by making simple thumbnail sketches of all spreads. This was a way of planning out the story and the look without any particular illustration style.

First pages of the book welcome reader to an industrial world full of cement walls and smoke. As the story progresses the color palette changes, which indicates a certain growth and coming back to nature. Towards the end the idea spreads fast as people rediscover their true nature and their true self.
line art exploration and character highlight
I chose to create an anonymous character that would live in the middle of concrete jungle where everyone has forgotten what it used to look like before. And you go along with this character and try to figure out where is nature hiding.
